Brown-eyed susan

Perennial native species
Height: 3 to 4 feet
Width: 1 to 3 feet
Flower color: yellow with black center
Bloom time: summer/fall
Light needed: sun, part shade
Soil needed: dry, moist
Notes: Drought-tolerant, and adapts to several hours of shade. Tolerates clay soils. It is short-lived, but reseeds itself readily.
Attracts bees and butterflies and songbirds for its seeds
Resistant to deer
