Description

Columbine, Eastern or Canadian Columbine
Aquilegia canadensis

Perennial native plant

Height:  1 to 3 feet

Width:  1 to 1 1/2 feet

Flower color:  red/yellow

Bloom time:  early spring

Light needed:  prefers part sun, but will tolerate more sun with adequate moisture.

Soil needed:  It prefers organically rich, moist soil like that in its native forest home. 

Notes:  Good pollinator plant. It will readily self-sow but easily hybridizes with other columbines.  Attracts butterflies, bees, bumblebees, hummingbirds, songbirds
