Description

Sunflower, thin-leafed or Ten-petaled Sunflower
Helianthus decapetalus L.

Perennial native plant

Height:  3 to 5  feet

Width:  2  to 3 feet

Flower color:  yellow

Bloom time:  summer, fall

Light needed:  sun, part sun, shade

Soil needed:  moist and sandy

Notes:  Attracts butterflies, bees, and birds.  May spread vigorously by self-seeding or via creeping rhizomes to form colonies.  Very nice for woodland settings.  

Not resistant to deer
